The final countdown…

Considering it is already the end of January, this means the beginning of our tour is only 4 weeks away…after months of work, now, it is time to get really excited- and things are starting to take form and shape and are becoming more concrete.

The last weeks were spent getting a whole bunch of vaccinations, in preparation for the vicious viruses that lurk in dark corners all over the globe, and to organize all the bureaucratic necessities, such as tavel insurance and visa (coming to a close here).

Now, it is about getting the gear together,  test packing, reading up on our destinations- and pretty simply just looking forward to getting started, which we are- a lot in fact.

So, if no unexpected events occur in the meantime, we will be back with our first on-the-road-reports from Austria in the beginning of March.

Until then,

all the best and cheers!

….and hello again

As I think most of you can inmagine, the thing about planning your trip is that it makes you wanna pack your stuff IMMEDIATELY and hit the road.

Be that as it may, life’s obligations keep us firmly in Europe until next year- a time span which we are bridging by contunuing to develop our tour. And we keep on adding ;-). So much to see- and maybe for once, enough time- so why not take advantage.

The latest in our musings has been the idea of taking the Trans Siberian Express on the way back rather than boarding a plane and heading straight into a reverse culture shock upon arriving.

Which makes me wanna add some points to our provisionary itinerary:

  • Russia (and I cannot wait to see Lake Baikal)
  • Mongolia (?)
  • Poland
  • and while we are at it, why not the Baltic States as well?

Much more to follow, I am assuming, in the coming months…

PS: or even already on the very same day…

The thing with travelling and dreaming about destinations is that the bureaucratic reality of many countries makes a fullfillment of said plans close to impossible. So after excitedly writing the above, I checked visa regulations for Russia and the prospects are dark, to say the least. We’ll see what comes out of it. Hope dies last…
